The Humane Society of West Alabama's cat adoption center at xxxx Veterans Memorial Pkwy is open Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Appointments are available for other times with advance notice. We're all-volunteer and need at least a couple of days of advance notice to schedule appointments.

This gorgeous girl is Nora, a domestic shorthair solid black female, around 6-8 months of age. She is jet black with a lightly shaggy short coat, and her eyes aren't typical domestic shorthair eyes - they're more spherical and a citrine or amber in color, much like Bombays. She isn't mitted or with any white patches - she's solid black, which is a little rare for females. Nora was rescued by a friend of the organization, and she's lucky she received help when she did! Nora must know how lucky she is, because she's been grateful and kind since beginning her (hopefully!) temporary stay at our adoption center!
Nora is a calm, sweet and gentle lady. Even when she's bashful with new people, she's still calm and doesn't mind too much if someone wants to hold her. We believe Nora would do well in different environments. She's do very well as a companion for someone who's home often, since she loves socializing with people and would love to be able to closely bond. But she's also a little independent and would be just as happy if family was away at work/school part of the day, so long as they come home and don't mind being greeted every time by happy meows!

Our flat adoption fee is $75, a fee to help defray a fraction of veterinary costs and general care expenses. Our adoptable animals have routine vet visits, and are as healthy as possible as soon as they are in our care. Vet records are provided to adopters. Read the descriptions thoroughly and note the specific personalities or special criteria we recommend (some are not good around kids, other cats, dogs, etc.). We cannot accept applications from minors or legal dependents. Read up on our adoption process .
